Muladhara chakra which sits at the base of the trunk is in many ways the single most important chakra because it controls and affects our physical being, the body and all that the body contains.

When energy flows to and from the Muladhara easily, it helps to keep it beautifully balanced and unblocked.

Since Muladhara or the base chakra is the lowest one, movement of energy until the Muladhara helps to move it to other chakras as well.

Muladhara Breathing helps to easily access the sushumna Nadi which runs through the spine all the way up towards the crown chakra or Sahasrara.

In Muladhara Breathing breath and energy are moved into the sushumna directly by focusing on the tailbone after an out-breath, as explained in the earlier video and accompanying piece shared a few days ago. You’ll find it on my YouTube channel and social media, including Facebook, whatsapp groups.

Think of a you U – shaped channel for breath that runs down from the nostrils to the Muladhara where it turns and continues up the spine. The part along the spine, runs through the various chakras aligned with it.

As breath and energy moves through the sushumna it helps clear and cleanse it and removes phlegm, in particular. As per Ayurveda, vata, pitta and kapha (air/gas, acidity and mucus/phlegm) imbalances create ill-health through various blockages in the system. Mucus is especially a problem in the respiratory system.

Muladhara Breathing which can act like a vacuum cleaner can cleanse the sushumna and other nadis effectively. Those suffering from breath-related issues especially can get immense relief.

More importantly, having enough prana that circulates well through the system is critical for overall good health as the life-force can help heal and repair the body, mind and the constituent parts of the system.

Anal breathing would merely access the digestive system, whereas Muladhara breathing accesses all the major chakras and helps cleanse them.

Immense physical, emotional, spiritual and other benefits accrue when the sushumna and the chakras are cleansed with the techniques in the SWA-TANTRA KRIYA which helps with Muladhara breathing at a much deeper level.

Start with the simple Muladhara breathing and go deeper as you begin to notice the results…
