Anyone suffering from kapha dosha imbalance (read about it in ayurveda articles if you’re not familiar with the term) is advised to stay away from certain foods esp milk products, coconut water and the like.

Yoghurt can be especially problematic for anyone with a serious kapha dosha issue…like me.

However, i experiment with my breathwork and also the food to see how well the body is responding to my breath explorations.

Sometimes I win and sometimes I lose. To be honest i lose quite often but in the interest of knowledge and clarity I continue along my path…

Lately, my Tridosha Balancing breathwork has moved up a few notches and I’m feeling a lot more able to fight kapha.

Some may be familiar with my work and classes on this subject a couple of years ago but a couple of run-ins with the recent Covid pandemic and related conditions in addition to my COPD (which I’ve since beaten quite comprehensively) slowed me down considerably and i thought I was at a dead-end since I wasn’t able to beat kapha (phlegm) more conclusively.

Expelling excess phlegm wasn’t much of an issue as Swaskosh Shudhhi Kriya which i’ve been teaching and sharing for free with S-VYASA for some years has proved to be very effective. Many videos are uploaded on my YouTube channel and you can watch them there and practice along for free…

The problem and aim was to try and reduce the production of phlegm in my system. In that, I can only claim partial success so far. I often felt my body was like a phlegm (mucus) factory, something many other kapha dosha sufferers can identify with.

However, lately, I’m getting the sense that I’m now, with some additional clarity in my practices, able to beat kapha production quite seriously. That’s huge for me.

However, I need more conclusive evidence. And, in the interest of greater clarity and confidence I’m now experimenting with certain foods like yoghurt to see how much real progress I’ve made.

If, over the next few weeks, despite ingesting milk products, coconut water, sugarcane juice, curds etc regularly if my kapha (mucus) production stays down I’ll know I’m on the right path and will share the technique with those who’ve been part of Swaskosh Shudhhi Kriya, tridosha balancing program etc and are familiar with my work.

Later, I’ll share with a wider audience.
