Below, is repost of part of an article on Huffing (mouth blowing) technique to empty lungs, along with a video demonstrating the technique. This will be part of the ‘Swaskosh Shuddhi Kriya’ (Lung Purification Kriya)’ that I will explain in greater detail on Sunday, as planned.
One simple technique to expel maximum stale air is detailed below:
- Relax your chest and belly area, exhale as much as air as can be comfortably done through the mouth;
- Hold the breath without inhalation for a few seconds and expel air through the mouth again, reasonably forcefully but without discomforting yourself. Try to expel air from the lowest part of your lungs;
- Repeat step 2 a few times until you feel your lungs have nearly emptied;
- Breathe slowly through the nostrils until the lungs are comfortably filled with fresh air;
- Repeat the exhalation as in steps 1 and 2, viz. exhale through the mouth in short bursts a few times until lungs are almost emptied;
- Do the inhalation and exhalation cycle 10/12 times and you’ll have a lot of fresh air in the lungs;
While doing the exhalation, you might expectorate or breathe out mucus/phlegm. Do not swallow the phlegm/sputum/mucus. Spit it out safely in an appropriate way.
Please follow these instructions and exhale your way to great, healthy and coronavirus-free lungs!
