Shaktipata is a well-known and hugely respected concept. It happens when a guru blesses his disciple, usually a disciple who has won his master’s blessings with his devotion, sincerity and service.
Google describes shaktipata thus: ‘The term “Shaktipat” is derived from Sanskrit, with “Shakti” meaning energy or power, and “Pat” meaning descent or bestowal.’
Essentially, the guru blesses his disciple when his own sadhana, devotion and service to the higher powers empowers him to bring down energy and it’s transmitted through the Guru’s hands to the disciple through his sahasrara or ajna chakra.
Hanumanji is my inner guru who took me under his wings though I was not qualified in any way…
However, ever since I surrendered myself to him, imagining myself as a grain of sand that took refuge under his toe-nail at a time when I was filled with anxiety and fears, he let me be there. I would merely go and sit under his toe-nail wherever I felt unable to handle life and its endless pains, challenges and suffering.
Hanuman chalisa naturally became my go-to mantra for any difficulty.
Once deep at midnight when a dark, seemingly malevolent, energy made its presence felt in my room in China, inviting me to go to him, I got up scared like never before. He offered me relief from my financial challenges and fame as a writer. In exchange he wanted my soul. I got up, scared, like never before. I repeatedly chanted Hanuman Chalisa until I was able overcome the fear and fell asleep…
That presence never again returned to bother me. However, since my financial condition deteriorated further, i could only kick myself, thinking, ‘when god makes you an offer you turn him down, when the dark one one makes you an offer you turn him down, too…now face the consequences…’
Many years earlier, in deep meditation, some higher power had offered me wealth and success or spiritual growth. Coming as I did from a well-off family without any financial difficulties, i easily chose spiritual growth. Little did i know what lay in store.
Time went on and though my challenges continued, Hanumanji started taking control of my life which was beginning to look like a ship heading into the rocks…
Gently, he began guiding me away from my path of self-destruction and towards something that would later prove to be beautiful and priceless.
He is Pawan-Suta or son of the God of Wind. For some reason, I’ve always been connected with pranayama at some level and Hanumanji started guiding me deeper in the field as if instructing me from within, inspiring me, sharing an insight or some clarity on the subject…
I shared it in a post on Facebook:

Hanumanji bestowed a special shaktipata on me. One day, as I walked in the lakes and stopped to seek blessings of Ma Kali, i felt as if Hanumanji picked me (as an infant) and handed me to Ma Kali who immediately gave her breast as a lactating mother does her baby! She then sat on Shiva’s postrate body as is depicted in some esoteric tantric pictures. I felt powerful waves of Ananda from Ma Kali sweep over me, too!
I wondered then if it meant that Hanumanji was giving me up or disowning me in some way. However, i was quite content to be Ma Kali’s infant child.
It’s only lately that I began to understand that it was a shaktipata of special significance…
Ever since then, my work, interest and energy levels have begun to soar…
Shiva cannot be reached without blessings of Shakti. And, what better way is there than to be fed at mother’s breast to receive all the energy needed to start my journey towards Shiva (highest consciousness). I don’t know how long the journey will be…but I’m happy to be Ma Kali’s infant and be guided by her.
And, Hanumanji is deeply connected to Ma Kali…In many ways he stands guard for her…
