Adhyatma or spirituality, when practiced sincerely and assiduously, speeds up things and that means karmic debts start getting called, and hopefully paid, faster.
That’s a tough ask. Often, those on the path of adhyatma, begin to lose their nerve. That is because they expected this path to bring them rich rewards.
Rich rewards may or may not come but a rich serving of karmic debts certainly does. If the karmic account is filled with lots of positives, surely, that’s what will be served. Otherwise…
Problem with karma is, it’s a running account which is always changing and active…thoughts, words, actions and most of all, intent are constantly creating an exciting potpourri of experiences. However, these experiences are not necessarily events or things that happen to us. The experiences are mostly our perceptions, feelings, thoughts, emotions. That means karma works from within as much if not more, as from outside.
So, adhyatma speeds things up and it feels like one is watching a movie on ‘fast forward’. The important thing about karma is that lessons must be learnt. The most important lesson is awareness of deeper layers of truth because, while truth doesn’t change, our perception of it does.
If one is willing to walk that path, take the pain and do the necessary inner work and get greater clarity of the self (atma gyan), peel off layers of ego, devote himself to the greater self and start detaching himself from the world of desires and duality he will surely get his rich rewards.
And, the rich rewards that then come his way will be worth far more than the illusions after which one wastes his life, or lives!
