Mulabandha or ‘root lock’ is a very well-known and discussed yogic practice.

However, the secrets of the Muladhara or base chakra are barely seen or explored generally and, therefore, clarity about the chakra and practices related to it are also cloaked for most.

Often, because of lack of knowledge connected with the Muladhara chakra, wrong practices get the nod leading to unnecessary physical , mental, emotional and other complications.

There are 4 important muscle groups in the Muladhara chakra, corresponding to 4 different channels of breath that touch the chakra.

Usually, practitioners are unable to identify the 4 groups of muscles and generally employ the mulabandha or root lock that may affect all or some of the muscle groups.

Some who are a little more aware may, at best, distinguish between Ashwini mudra (contraction of the anal sphincter) and mulabandha (gentle lifting of the perineum), if at all.

The four muscle groups correspond to an equally important four channels of breath that reach the Muladhara. Knowing which of the channels and muscle groups to lock is important to get the desired results.

Doing the mulabandha or root lock may lead to great benefits in terms of both activating the chakra and releasing blockages there, in addition to many other physical, emotional, mental and spiritual gains.

SWA-TANTRA KRIYA goes deep into the exploration of four different channels of breath, their muscle groups at the Muladhara and applying the bandha in truly meaningful ways that can result in great energy (including sexual energy) benefits.

Join the SWA-TANTRA KRIYA program to discover the different channels experientially, even as you begin to master the body’s energy systems (pranamaya kosha) and discover amazing techniques to reach the heights of holistic wellness and health.

As breath and energy begin to access the different channels and chakras, the pranamaya kosha (energy body) becomes much more active, leading to a massive improvement in all aspects of one’s being. Remember, energy is needed for every little thing and that energy needs to be available to every Nadi, chakra, organ and cell.

Once the pranamaya kosha starts to bristle with energy, the rest of the being begin to glow with its goodness.
