Here’s a simple test to find out…

Stand in front of a mirror! Tell your mind to recall just five things it/you should be grateful for.

STOP! WAIT! See what these five ‘things’ are. Does your mind feel a sense of gratitude as it recalls them?

Does it do it readily?

Notice the expression on your face.

Does it look happy? Or, at least, happier than before? Is there a smile on your face?

If the answer to these questions is a ‘yes’ chances are you’re lucky! Your mind is quite possibly a friend to you.

If you’re among the small lucky percentage of people who are fortunate to have their own minds as their friends, you may enjoy a bit of a celebration!

However, if you’re not among that small percentage, you can join the most elite of all elite clubs with due preparation.

We all think of our minds as OURS and that’s perfectly alright. After all, our minds are supposed to ‘belong’ to us, serve us, help us, support us, and basically do everything to make our lives better in all possible ways!

But is that really the case for most?

Most people, whether they realize it or not, don’t really own their minds! THEIR MINDS OWN THEM! They become slaves to their minds instead of the other way round.

See, it’s like this! Minds are basically memories closely connected with emotions. And, emotions are largely a domain of the ego. After all, if there are emotions – good ones, bad ones, happy ones, sad ones, anger, disappointment, joy, depression etc these must touch someone/something!

The one that’s affected by these feelings which are generated by the associations attached to them, is the ego which uses the mind as its tool!

See, the mind remembers and recalls, is attracted to, and responds to emotions. If there are no emotions involved, the mind is usually not interested.

So, this ego-mind thing is the one that controls us! Ego is our sense of identity. This sense of identity and our being so emotionally attached to this identity drive us!

Crazy, normally!

When we learn to distance ourselves from this ego-mind-emotion complex we start becoming their masters instead of remaining their slaves!

That’s when and how we begin to experience freedom and empowerment.

Breath, when it flows through us easily and unrestrainedly, becomes like a powerful vacuum cleaner that starts cleaning, clearing, and cleansing the chakras or the endocrine system through the sushumna (vagus nerve) where emotions and memories are stored/locked or stuck. This ‘stuckness’ is what holds us back and down.

With breathwork, we can work ourselves out of this stuckness and then reclaim for ourselves that freedom that leads us towards our highest potential.

That’s when our mind starts becoming OUR mind. We begin to own it, direct it, control and use its power to fulfill us in all ways!

We owe it to ourselves to take back control over our minds and ensure it becomes a friend, ally, and servant!

A beautiful new world then awaits us! Claim it!
