For long I’ve been mystified by the role of human beings on earth and in the universal scheme of things.
Nature, I believe, abhors anything that does not contribute to continuity of its plans. All living beings are tolerated only as long as they play some positive role in the overall cycles of life and nature’s plans.
Basically, humans have long been extremely harmful to nature, destroying other forms of life, spoiling the environment in all possible ways, and in many ways, even playing havoc with the earth and its oceans.
Yet, nature seems to stand by almost indulgently, waiting for its favorite child to mend his ways and play the role expected of him.
Broadly speaking, plants and trees accumulate and aggregate energy of the sun and store it to help life continue…
Some other life forms use that energy to bring subtle transformations using that energy…
The most striking change or transformation, if observed generally, is the evolution of consciousness.
There’s almost a distinct hierarchy in the level of sentience and consciousness across species….very generally speaking!
Plants, germs, insects, fish, sea creatures, animals etc all have a certain level of sentience, self-awareness or consciousness but none comes close to human consciousness with its varying levels of consciousness along with the ability to raise it with a conscious effort.
Yes, humans alone seem to have the ability to actually raise their consciousness with their own will and effort. No other life forms display this ability.
In Sanatan or Hindu way of looking at life, consciousness is Shiva…or at least, the highest consciousness is Shiva!
Of all the quadrillions, quintllions or perhaps, even centillions of living beings on earth, there are only humans comprising about a relatively tiny 8 billion who have the ability to raise their consciousness…
Just imagine…how rare and what an amazing privilege it is to be born human!
And, of all these, merely 8 billion have a special and intensely unique ability…TO RAISE THEIR CONSCIOUSNESS.
Yet, instead of using the relatively short span of 70-80 years to reach their highest potential, an almost divine level of consciousness, most humans grovel and cry in misery…
Yet, mother earth waits patiently…
How much longer?
It’s time we humans made an effort to understand our unique and special role on earth and to fulfil our obligation to ourselves and to mother earth!
