Brahmacharya is the path that leads to great fulfillment.

According to our Shastras and rishis that saw and understood things clearly, we have four purusharthas. These are the four major things that lead to a fulfilling life – dharma, artha, kama, moksha.

Brahmacharya is following the dharma of a young person. A young person needs to focus on building himself up in ways that will help him achieve the four goals or life effectively.

In following brahmacharya, one focuses on learning and preserving the most important resources of the body, one of which is energy. If energy is leaked or wasted early in life, there will not be enough available in the future. Without enough energy, none of the future goals can be achieved effectively.

Think of Brahmacharya as a stage when one’s resources are built, strengthened and nurtured.

Once this is done effectively, everything else becomes much easier later. There are many small and major benefits that come along like greater concentration, clarity, creativity and strength (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual).

This happens easily because all the energy that’s preserved is allowed to move up the spine along the sushumna.

There are special breathing and pranamaya techniques that help clear the passage of sushumna so that energy moves up without too much difficulty.

If the young can be taught to be responsible with their resources and energy they can build a very rewarding future life for themselves and their families. They can become valuable members of an group and society.

Naturally, the conserved energy in the Brahmacharya stage will help practitioners fulfill all their purusharthas of dharma, artha, kama and moksha.

Notice how in ancient India when brahmacharya was widely practiced in the first part of life, society and tue nation prospered in all ways. Those were times when Bharat reached peak achievements in all areas of human endeavor.

Imagine how practice of Brahmacharya can help rebuild families and youths like in ancient India and even more…this is, after all, an age and a time when the smallest sincere human effort leads to great breakthroughs and successes!

You and the youths you are responsible for can achieve their highest potential with a little more sincere effort now…
