Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth is venerated and worshipped by all in today’s largely materialistic society.
The roots of the word lakshmi, in Sanskrit means:
1. Perception, knowledge, observation, understanding; and
2. Goal, aim, objective.
As we begin to observe the world around us with a deeper insight and perceive things more clearly a better understanding and knowledge begins to dawn. We might begin to experience the deeper inter-connectedness of everything around…indeed, the oneness of it all might begin to come into our view.
Once our understanding and vision is clearer, it will help create a goal, an objective, a purpose that’s somewhat different than what most people are generally concerned with – me, mine, i and the limited understanding of one’s existence.
One with a lower consciousness and a superficial view of life will naturally be concerned about his own survival and well-being and that of his family and loved ones, at best.
However, this causality of consciousness and energy resources are not to be limited by our understanding that views things from a limited perspective of time and space. The relationship between consciousness and energy in human experience can span over lifetimes as explained in the theory of Karma.
Notice how often, even siblings are jealous of each other and cannot bear to see the other doing well…all signs of a very limited and low level consciousness…
Goddess Lakshmi will definitely and assuredly, quickly move away from such places and people who display low level consciousness…
If you have seen pictures of goddess Lakshmi and heard stories about her, you will be aware that though she is herself the goddess of wealth she serves Vishnu by sitting at his feet and doing what she can to facilitate his well-being and to help fulfill whatever he wishes! And, no, this is not about male-female issues as we understand them in society…again, with a very low level of consciousness.
The feminine is venerated and worshipped as Shakti! She enjoys a hugely respected and elevated position. Yet, lakshmi, or a form of Shakti, serves Vishnu…
In brief, it signifies that universal energy serves universal consciousness…
As humans, with the inherent ability to experience and display the highest to the lowest forms of consciousness, we can also be accordingly blessed with energy in its various forms, to express our level of consciousness.
The lower our consciousness, the lower the resources that life will bring to us.
By all means, try to observe your surroundings to see this connection. It may not always be readily and easily perceivable. These are things that one needs to look for within and to see the connection there.
As consciousness begins to rise, one’s deeper understanding of his ‘self’ begins to undergo a subtle but powerful shift. He is no more just his limited and limiting ego. He sees a little more of his self in others and others in him.
As this insights grows, one becomes more than willing to readily help and serve others. And, this service is both genuine and truly compassionate at some level at the very least…
As one continues to serve, often without being benefited materially or in ways that society values, he begins to be noticed by Goddess Lakshmi. Remember, Goddess Lakshmi is happy to bless and herself serve those whose consciousness is rising. In serving ‘others’ one is actually serving the higher self.
Remember, Goddess Lakshmi embodies fulfillment of goals and she quickly begins to fulfill those with higher goals, equipping them with the resources needed…
When Lakshmi comes drawn by the supreme attraction of higher consciousness, she doesn’t just visit, she is there to stay!
Serve, not just to deserve the blessings of Lakshmi, but in ways that will make her stay for a long long time…
Serve, serve, serve…and let life and Lakshmi decide what and how much you deserve…
