As i walked today morning in the lakes, Ananda bubbling inside on its own while Sat-chid-ananda Breath flowed down the sahasrara to the muladhara and up the muladhara to the sahasrara via the Vishnu and Shiva nadis, Ma Kali started appearing before my intermittently shutting eyes. I saw her in all her awe-inspiring presence, with a garland of severed heads.

Though at her ferocious raw best, she was tender and gentle.. and after some time she lifted me up in her arms and fed me at her breast…

I was like a little baby in her arms and with me in her arms she enjoined with Shiva’s inert body as depicted in so many illustrations.

Ma Kali and Shiva were joined in that most iconographic of ways and Ananda flowed stronger inside the child in Ma Kali’s arms…

The visions/images/experiences played repeatedly while i walked and I knew I had to visit ma Kali at Dakhineshwar.

We arrived at Dakhineshwar too early for the afternoon darshans. Crowds were huge and visiting the temple is not what it was once upon a time. The complex is much bigger and phones etc have to deposited in the care of temple staff manning tiny windows outside the temple.

Anyway, seeing the huge crowds and the long lines we decided to come back another day. However, Ma Kali had called me and I had to have darshans of her.

After asking around we made our way to the Mutakesi Kali Ma temple near the YSS (Yogoda Satsang Society) founded by Paramhans Yogananda Ji. We sat in the temple absorbing Ma’s divine presence as my mind played back images from the morning darshans.

A gentle lady made her way into the temple, stood outside the gated sanctum and took the teertham in a bowl near the gate. Then she started singing her tribute to Ma Kali in an amazingly rich and sweet voice. I video recorded her and later said i hope she didn’t mind my having done so without her permission.

I’m wary of taking pictures and recording videos in temples that expressly forbid it. It’s a theft of sorts, too!

She didn’t mind as i played the recording for her as she was leaving!

She refused to let me touch her feet which i wanted to do, saying she couldn’t possibly do such a thing.

She did tell me she sang Rabindra Sangeet, Shastriya Sangeet etc…and her name is Jogmaya!

Isn’t that also one of Kali Ma’s names?

Very often we don’t understand the implications of what happens at some point of time until much later…

I think i also need to wait for some time to fully understand the implications of this amazing day!

Enjoy Ma’s singing (in the attached video)!
